At the Head Office of Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation (Petrolimex), the official signing ceremony for the supply of oils between Petrolimex and SK Energy was held on February 2nd, 2011. According to the contract, SK Energy in 2011 would supply Petrolimex with 900,000cbm of RON 92 gasoline and diesel oil.

At the signing, apart from Mr. S.W.SUH, Vice President for crude products and distillates, Mr. Johnny Bae, Chief of Products Sale, Mr. B.R. Kang, Chief of SK Corp. Representation in Hanoi were present.

On Petrolimex side, Mr. Bui Ngoc Bao, Chairman of Board of Management and Director General, Mr. Nguyen Quang Kien, Member of Board of Management and Vice Director General, Mr. Pham Duc Thang, Director of Import and Export Department, Mr. Mai Viet Sinh, Director of Marketing Department, Mr. Tran Tien, Vice Director of Import and Export Department and related specialists.

At present, SK Energy is one of the three biggest oil suppliers for Petrolimex by long term contracts. On the other hand, Petrolimex is one of the two major customers of SK Energy in South East Asian Region.

In South Korea, SK Energy is the biggest oil producer with two refineries in Ulsan (800,000bpd) and Inchon (280,000bpd). This firm is highly experienced in international trading, having professional staff and good cooperation performance, ensuring strict implementation of agreements signed. Korean refineries are export oriented and have become one of major oil sources for the region. With modern equipment and advanced technology, Korean oil products respond to requirements of various markets (European , American, Australian, Vietnam…). At the time being, 100 percent oil Petrolimex bought from SK Energy is direct distillates of high and stable quality.

Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation established first relations with SK Energy since early 90’s (20th century) through the import of products from Yukong Singapore (predecessor of SK Energy). In 2007 SK Energy commenced the delivery of diesel oil to Petrolimex by big tonnage vessel transshipped through Van Phong Bay (Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam) . From mid-2008 SK Energy further supplied RON 95 gasoline and recently was awarded the tender for the supply of RON 92 gasoline.

In the working session, the two sides exchanged information on oil markets of the two countries, the ongoing prices of world crude and products, the advantage and disadvantage of markets, of oil trading and business of 2010 and emphasized the continued cooperation for development between Petrolimex and SK Energy.
